A Filmmaker's Reflection

What I learned about documentaries is that they actually show you a message or a story, before I used to think that a documentary was like to play some kind of movie and just make it all up, but now I have learned that a documentary is good for like learning different kinds of stuff that goes on in the world.

In my documentary group we are working on showing people the damage garbage does to the earth and how recycling can do a big change and also keep it safe and clean.

I hope I persuade people in a way that will make them change their mind and take action! because if we want to make a change we all have to become one and to action.

When people watch my documentary and my site I want them to feel the same knowledge I had after working so hard on the documentary.

I think any kid can inspire to change the world because no matter how old or big they are they have the right and power to make a change and inspire others.

Thesis of my documentary

The social issue i am addressing is how the garbage we throw on the floor affect most animals, The message is that if we throw garbage on the floor outside any animal that passes by and eats out of it after it been there for a long time and the animal gets sick and probably dies.

Introoduction to documentarys

I think that to make this documentary they had to get the actors, and think about where the setting was gonna be. The work that was put in this media was acting, and great speaking.
Some ingredients or elements that I noticed were used in this documentary was the music was kinda scary at first and it changed to sad when he was about to commit suicide. Also that the color changed through the way of his feelings.

My favorite part was when they added color, because that made it seemed like if you could tell what his emotion for the whole media was.

If i were to make this media what i would do differently is like i get better actors that make it seem real and not too much of an exaggeration.

My response is differently because this was convincing but in a exaggerated way.

book club critic

The book called Anne Frank is about a girl that spent the rest of her life in a attic, and always has her diary that she calls "kitty" and always has it with her and writes about what happened in her daily life. When she was 13 years old the nazis went to Holland and she saw awful things happen to her friends and people, which was a bad thing for her and she always had to be hidden from them for something bad not to happen to her.

I can connect this book to the book about the "atomic bomb" that i read with ms.johns, because it's kind of the same situation but tome it's worst than Anne Frank's. I can also connect Anne Frank to some teenagers from every where in the world because teenagers are sometimes acting all sneaky to go to parties and getting grounded.

I think that the most boring part of the book was when she was describing the house, i know it's helpful to the reader to know how the house look, but she described the WHOLE house in such a boring way like for example she could've say "the bathroom, where everyday STINKS" instead of "the white bathroom, which has this kind of curtains..wood floor...ect" because it's teens who are reading it and most teens like at least something to laugh about. My reaction of when i read this part of the book was like "wow!" i read about four pages just of her house, and all she tells me is the type of stuff.
I think you may like to read the book to learn how she died which was really awful, but in my own opinion i would say a teenager shouldn't read it because they will say it's BORING.

The part that was unbelievable was how she died and she was fourteen. I know people can die at any age but she was so young and that is sometime that i don't see everyday or read about everyday, and it's also sad cause her life was really sad and then she died so young when there were still so much to discover.

Book club reading response menu

If i were to spend a the day with a character from the book Anne Frank is Anne because from her i think i can get more experience because she was kind of my age when she wrote her diary, and also died. I would like the day to be like a spring weather and have a all the flowers bloomed. If i visited Anne's world i think it would be different if she visited mine because right now we don't have people like the Nazis (that wants to kill Jewish families.)

If i could ask Anne something it would be like "how could you stand to watch people kill others in front of you?" and things like that because one day i can have a smilier happening to me and by what she tells me i can do the same and not be affected well try not to be affected by what can happens.

character's chnges

these characters endure social pressures that we see in our own lives, because maybe a person can be hiding after someone because they are gonna get killed or maybe also because they are not the person who don't like to fight, so they hide from a specific person. What i think we can learn from their decisions and experiences is that you can have a normal life like always but when you see that person you can be able to hide.

Anne Frank Tin the day of today

If Anna Frank would be in a different historical context i think that she will act and live differently because she won't have no one to hide from or not much danger like there is back then. The place would be different from where she lived to now because she would have more space and more food to eat and be extra healthy. And i think she would talk very differently because that was several years ago and things change so i think she would talk just like us.

Anne Frank book clubs response #1

What i have read in the book so far is that she and her family are working on the Hiding place, They are now just making sure its safe and comfortable.
-I can connect this part of the book with other people that like making sure their place is safe and sound and where no one will get hurt.
-I can predict that they are gonna all be safe and get all their goals done! but at the same time i think something bad is gonna happen to them while they hide.
-I don;t really find the book that interesting at this point, But I'm going to do the effort to get more into the book and Anne shoes.
-At this point Anne hasn't Really change her personality.

Biology of Anne Frank

Anne Frank is a girl who was born in Frankfurt am Maine, Germany on June 12, 1929.On Anne Frank's thirteenth birthday she received a diary, she named it "Kitty" which she liked the best out of all her presents. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp of typhus and so did her sister Margot. Her mother died of starvation and her father was the only one (out of that family) who survived. Some interesting facts about Anne Frank are, her full name is Annelies Marie Frank, she called her diary Kitty, her father was one of the many few people who survived and escaped the concentration camp and made a book about her diary. Anne Frank never got married. She died too young. She died at fifteen years of age.

Anne Frank book clubs response

  • I can connect this diary with other people's diary like my friend Anais ... because she has a diary and she writes kinds of stuff like Anne frank such as ... Boy stuff and her friends her parents being annoying or champs of any kind of game.
  • For now my favorite character is Anne Frank because she is the author and also that is about her life and stuff and i really like the way she acts ...
  • On page 2 she says she wrote on her diary on Monday, 15 June 1942 and then she wrote again Saturday, 20 June, 1942 ... i would've written more to understand more of what happen during that stretch of time she did not write on her diary, and help the reader understand more.

Alice walker's poetic styels

The time period she started writing was on the 1950's
1952: At the age of eight, Alice is accidentally blinded by one of her brothers while playing a game of "Cowboys and Indians."
1952-58: Alice is ostracized as an outcast because of her scar. To deal with her feelings of loneliness, Alice begins to read and write poetry.
1958: At the age of fourteen, while visiting her brother Bill in Boston, Alice is taken to a hospital to have the cataract in her eye removed. She becomes confident and her life is transformed.

Cited from "Living By Grace"

I think this time period influenced her poetry by giving her experience of what things in life did to her so she started writing and her life became confident. For example on 1958 At the age of fourteen, while visiting her brother Bill in Boston, Alice is taken to a hospital to have the cataract in her eye removed. She becomes confident and her life is transformed.
After reading her biography i think what happened in her life experienced her poetry because she used what had happened to her and maybe write a poem that connects with that.
The poets style's was easy to understand because she would maybe draw an image and helped you understand what image maybe came to her head while writing the poem... She also used many poetic devices such as Rhyme, Simile,metaphor...ect.

Romeo and juliet(sonnet)

The theme of this poem is LOVE.
They talk in a very lovely way to each other too.

The clues that gave this theme away was that like since i saw the movie it helped me understand the poem better. so i kinda already knew.

I can connect with this poem because at times i can get really romantic and talk in a lovely way.

This theme can be connected to other poem that have been written by Shakespear because his really romantic in writing plays or poems.

Still i rise

The theme of this poem is that whatever people think of her she still rises.
Also this poem teaches a lesson which is whatever people say or think of you just keep on and don't listen to them.

I can relate to this theme because if any one says or think something of me I'm
just gonna keep on and forget about it.

SARAH CYNTHIA WOULD NOT TAKE THE GARBAGE OUT

An example of hyperbole I found in this poem was " Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.
" What this hyperbole means is that the homework is giving him fits because it's too much. I think the poet used hyperbole in this way because he is trying to explain how much he hates homework.

Changes by Tupac Shakur

The mood i get of reading this poem is sad because he tells you how things changed after him being a kid and having his family together.

I know this because he uses his own words to describe it so that makes it
easy for me to understand what he is saying.

I think the poet wrote this poem in this mood because
he's explaining his life or the past of his life so of course he makes it the mood he does.

readers response (November blues)

Title: November blues
Author: Sharon M. Draper

This book so far is about a girl that she use to like this boy (josh)... and her friend told her that they used to make a good couple together. but then November said " i only liked to hang out with him because he is funny."

What i can predict from what I've read to what is going to happen is that Josh is going to be sad, because from what I have read josh is a nice guy and you can tell he loves her.
Also that they might get back together. I think this because maybe she can change to a better person and go out with josh again and this time for what he really is... and if not then i think there will be a reason why.

If i were November at this point i would feel like sad that now josh doesn't wanna come back together, or i would also feel like if he don't feel the same way he used to when we used to go out.

I can make a a connection with this book to my dad because when he broke up with my mom after 3 months he wanted to get back together with my mom, but my mom refused. So now he's by his own trying to find a woman to love.

I disagree with Josh's decision because i don't think November really wanted to do what she did to cause the relationship's ending, Or if he did.

For now my favorite character is Diana because i love the way the author made her personality and the way she has her Accent. Also because Diana is very help-full throughout the story.

The title "
November Blues" fits to story because blues means sad, And November is sad in the story or also that the whole story has something sad about it in the middle of any chapter for example in the first one November is sad.

I recommend you read this book because is very intelligent and good, also that the author makes the book so interesting by adding all the drama . And also that the book gets reeded by many people.

yes you can

yes you can,
change the world,
change the place
or the day!

change the danger ,
grant us peace,
make us happy,
give us need.

yes you can,
make a change,
just one step,
and there you go.

yes you can!

inaugural poem response

  • What do you think the title "Praise Song for the Day" means? Why is this significant to the poem?
  • I think the title "praise song for the day" means that it's like a song praise for the people who have died (Americans). It's significant to the poem because for example Elizabeth Alexander uses a lot the word praise and also she uses things that we do daily like having a teacher say "Take out a pencil."
  • How did the poem make you feel?
  • the poem made me feel proud because is good to hear a poem to the country.
  • Were there any words or phrases you especially liked? Why do you think the poet chose these words or phrases for the inaugural poem? The word or phrase i liked was "Some live by love thy neighbor as thyself,"
  • What poetic devices do you notice (for example: alliteration, 3 Rs, metaphor, simile, etc.)?
  • How does this poem relate to Obama's life and the inauguration? What is the theme or lesson?
  • Does the poem remind you of anything in your own life?
